It was no coincidence that the “Georgia-93” T-shirt went on sale on October 8.
It was on October 8, 1993, that the first Ukrainian plane landed in Georgia. This marked the beginning of a special operation by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to evacuate Georgian refugees from the Svaneti Mountains as the Abkhaz-Georgian War was coming to an end.
It was precisely the fact that Ukraine became the only country in the world that, instead of expressing concern, immediately responded with an offer of help that inspired the Süd-Ost-Küste team to commemorate this historic event—one in which Ukrainians, as always, demonstrated their character and chose action over empty talk.
This is yet another chapter in the history of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine that each of us should be proud of!
Between October 10 and 14, 1993, Ukrainian pilots flying 17 helicopters, under fire from Abkhaz-Russian forces, carried out 291 sorties and rescued more than 7,643 people from ethnic cleansing. Those who remained were provided with 487 metric tons of humanitarian aid.
The print you see on the T-shirt was created based on real photographs taken by eyewitnesses to those events.
