The struggle for Croatian independence in the twentieth century was long and bloody. Serbian encroachments and Italian territorial claims, attempts to declare Croats Hungarians and the "melting pot" of Yugoslavism. For the most part, Croats found themselves in a situation - themselves against everyone. National will against foreign interests, self-denying courage against enemy encroachments.

This situation gave rise to the "Ustashes" - an organized nationalist movement that was able to respond with weapons to the challenges of its time.

"For the Homeland - Ready!" is the memoirs of the leader of the "Ustashes" Ante Pavelic, in which he describes in detail his entire life, starting from childhood, his first political attempts, through emigration and the long struggle in interwar Europe, up to the creation of the Independent State of Croatia.
