A 12th-century mounted knight from the era of Kievan Rus’, an elite warrior (vityaz) armed with a sword and a spear and protected by plate armor, who formed the core of the prince’s cavalry. The patch is based on archaeological finds of armor currently housed at the National Museum of History in Kyiv.
