The reference for the patch was the work of Japanese artist Utagawa Kuniyoshi, "The Man with the Great Ōdzutsu."
Ōdzutsu is a type of Japanese artillery made of wrought iron, which was used mainly in naval and siege battles of the 15th-16th centuries.
The print is made in the ukiyo-e genre, which translates as “paintings of the flowing world.” This style gained popularity in the 16th-19th centuries.
